The Rodney Walshe Travel Scholarship Award
Every year this Award is personally sponsored by Rodney H.C. Walshe ONZM, the Honorary Consul General of Ireland in New Zealand.

The recipient of the Award, which is open to young men and women, will receive a credit to the value of NZ$2,500.00 for the cost of return air travel to Ireland to participate in the forthcoming World Dancing Championships.

Age Group:
Seventeen years, as at 1st January, in the year of the AWARD. This complies with the present age group for adult men

Selection:
Any dancer in the approved age group is eligible for this Award, except that no dancer can win the Award more than twice, not necessarily in succession.
The International Judges officiating at the NZ Irish Dancing Championships select the Scholarship winner, and they are the sole Judges of this Award.

Eligibility:
Every dancer in the age group participating in the Championships is eligible for this Award. Dancers are not required to nominate before dancing whether they are able to travel.
In the event that the winner does not travel, within the year specified, the Award cannot be claimed, other than at the sole discretion of the Consul General.
This Award is to be made each year strictly on merit to the best eligible dancer in the opinion of the International Judges, and the winner must participate in the next World Dancing Championships organised under the auspices of An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha.
